Step 1: Import a video or choose an existing one
To trim or edit your videos in Lightroom, you need to import a video or choose an existing one from your albums. To do this, follow the steps below:
Click the icon on the left to bring up My Photos panel.
In My Photos panel, click Add Photos to import a video or choose the album that contains the video you want to edit.
In the Detail view, select the video that you want to edit.
Step 2: Bring up the Edit panel and apply edits
To bring up the Edit panel in Detail view, click the icon at the upper-right corner. You can now expand/collapse the panels to access edit controls organized underâ Profile , Light, Color, Effects. These edit controls are explained in detail below. Note: Editing controls like Detail, Optics, and Geometry are not available for video editing.
Profile: You can choose from a limited subset of profiles available for videos. Profiles are a way to quickly apply a certain look or style to your video.
Light: You can adjust the exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, whites, blacks, and curves of your video. These settings affect how bright or dark your video looks.
Color: You can adjust the temperature, tint, vibrance, saturation, color mixer, and color grading of your video. These settings affect how warm or cool, vivid or muted, and balanced or stylized your video looks.
Effects: You can adjust the clarity, dehaze, vignette, grain, and texture of your video. These settings affect how sharp or soft, clear or foggy, darkened or lightened, and smooth or rough your video looks.
Step 3: Trim and rotate your video
You can also trim, flip and rotate videos using the Trim & Rotate panel. To do this, follow the steps below:
In the Edit panel, click the icon at the upper-right corner to bring up the Trim & Rotate panel.
To trim your video, drag the yellow handles on either end of the timeline to set the start and end points of your video. You can also use the playback controls to preview your trimmed video.
To flip your video horizontally or vertically, click the icon and choose an option from the drop-down menu.
To rotate your video clockwise or counterclockwise by 90 degrees, click the icon and choose an option from the drop-down menu.
Step 4: Apply presets to your video
You can also apply presets to your video to quickly change its look and feel. Presets are predefined combinations of settings that you can apply in one click. To do this, follow the steps below:
In the Edit panel, click the icon at the upper-right corner to bring up the Presets & Profiles panel.
You can choose from various available presets and also select Video Presets in the Preset panel. Video Presets are specially designed for videos and include categories like Cinematic , Vintage , Black & White , and more.
To apply a preset to your video, simply click on it and see how it changes your video. You can also adjust the amount of preset applied using the slider at the bottom of the panel.
